COMMUNITY PARTNER DETAILS

The purpose of this project is to document, protect, promote and transmit the Oromo mother tongue for current and future generations. It will address the dire lack of written materials in their mother tongue, of formal teaching methodology and teaching aids.

It aims to highlight the importance of mother tongue, to make it attractive to children, strengthen Burraaq Culture Schools and involve parents and other stakeholders in these efforts.

Teaching will be achieved through engaging knowledgeable Elders, traditional specialists such as healers, artisans and hiring local teachers who are versed with formal and informal teaching methods. Teaching aids and materials will be generated and produced at the center.
