The organization’s vision is to see a community without extreme poverty, where ALL members live healthy, self reliant lives in a clean and peaceful environment, and where their essential needs necessary for dignified living are met through sustainable social, cultural and economic activities.

“UYCDP is dedicated to bring positive change to youth in rural communities in Kenya by supporting local initiatives promoting self-reliance”. UYCDP is committed to need-based projects for youth to alleviate poverty, eradicate illiteracy and unemployment, and establish a healthy society; skill development and attainment of economic self-reliance.

The broad objectives of UYCDP is poverty reduction and sustainable social-economic development of the community through promotion of good agricultural practices, education, health, natural resources management practices, culture/arts, economic empowerment, ICT, clean water and sanitation. Opportunities exist for youth to take up leadership and active roles in educational, recreational, cross-cultural, leadership, volunteering, livelihood and youth development projects.

The project will bring together Elders and children to co-create digital stories sharing language, culture, and traditional knowledge for preservation. The Elders will tell a range of stories including personal experiences and local knowledge of cultural practices with the children who will be trained to create a digital version of the stories, adding images, sound, and music.
